The international forum "Dialogue of Declarations" starts its work in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Scientific and practical seminars organized as part of the international forum "Dialogue of Declarations" started today in Tashkent.

The event is held by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Institute for Global Engagement (USA) with the support of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and khokimiyats of Samarkand and Bukhara regions.

Prominent religious scholars, theologians, lawyers and officials from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the USA came to the capital of Uzbekistan to participate in scientific and practical seminars. From the Uzbek side, representatives of various faiths, theologians, religious scholars and specialists from relevant ministries and departments take part.

At the opening ceremony of the international forum, presentations will be made by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev, Vice President of the US Institute for Global Engagement James Chen, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Affairs Religions under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Davron Makhsudov, US Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan Daniel Rosenblum.

During the scientific and practical seminars, participants will exchange experience in the development of interfaith dialogue in a multinational society, get acquainted with the best practices for ensuring the rule of law in matters of religious freedom, strengthening mutual trust and respect between representatives of different religions.

As previously reported, after the completion of the seminars on May 18, foreign guests will visit the city of Samarkand, where they will get acquainted with the cultural, historical and religious and philosophical heritage of one of the oldest cities in Uzbekistan, visit religious sites of various confessions and hold a dialogue with representatives of religious communities.

The main event of the international forum "Dialogue of Declarations" will be held on 19 May in Bukhara, where the "Bukhara Declaration" will be adopted. It will become a logical continuation and addition to the declarations previously adopted in Marrakech (in 2016), Jakarta (2017), Potomac (2018), Punto del Este (2018), Mecca (2019) and the important contribution of Uzbekistan in the cause of affirming the ideas of religious tolerance and interethnic harmony on a global scale.
