Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 September 2019, the mayor of Tashkent, Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev, met with the president of the Children of Asia International Games Committee Vladimir Maksimov, with the participation of ICI Secretary General Sherzod Asatullayev, deputy mayor of the capital Sharof Rakhmanov and other responsible officials.
Welcoming the guests, Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev said that Uzbekistan is currently actively working to promote a healthy lifestyle and mass involvement of residents in sports. During the year, more than 600 outdoor training grounds, as well as mini-football grounds and children’s play areas were built in the mahallas of the capital.
Vladimir Maksimov said the committee has developed a new project of street games "Children of Asia", which is planned to be implemented next year. As part of the games, the city hosting the games may propose to include up to three types of national street games in the program in addition to the five main ones. In September of the current year, the start of the application campaign is planned, which will end in December. Vladimir Maksimov suggested that Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev apply from Tashkent and host the competition in 2023.
The Children of Asia International Games Committee was established 10 years ago. The activity of the ICI is aimed at the further development of the Games on the Asian continent, the expansion of international contacts and the promotion of fruitful cooperation and the development of children’s sports. Every year, the Committee organizes basketball, breaking, workout, skateboarding and graffiti competitions for children and teenagers from cities of 45 Asian countries and the Russian Federation located on the territory of the Asian continent.
