Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will allocate more than US$100.5 million to expand children’s access to early education, improve learning conditions in state preschool institutions.
The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures to implement the project “Improving the development of children from an early age” with the participation of the International Development Association, the organization Global Partnership in Education for Results.
The total cost of the project is US$100.57 million. The project is aimed at expanding children’s access to early education, improving learning conditions in public preschool institutions, creating opportunities for a systematic assessment of the quality of education in 2020-2024.
Uzbekistan and the International Development Association (IDA) signed a loan agreement in the amount of US$59.5 million in July for the implementation of the project "Improving the development of children from an early age."
A US$9.5 million grant agreement was signed with IDA, under which the Global Partnership for Education acts as the grant agent.
The government of Uzbekistan will allocate US$26.72 million for the implementation of the project, including tax and customs benefits, in the equivalent of US$16.9 million.
The Ministry of Preschool Education has been appointed as the executive body responsible for the targeted and effective use of loans and grants.
The costs associated with the repayment of loans, as well as the payment of interest on them, commission for services, payment of income to the investor in the amount of US$3.4 million, the provision of tax and customs benefits are carried out at the expense of the republican budget.
