Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A criminal case was initiated on the fact of an explosion of a gas-air mixture in one of the houses in Kibray district of Tashkent region. This was reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan.

Two people died in a residential building in Kibray district of Tashkent region due to a gas explosion. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the explosion occurred on 21 November at about 19:16. As a result of the explosion, part of the house collapsed. The walls and ceiling were deformed.

The prosecutor’s office of Tashkent region, during the pre-investigation check, found out that the installation work of the polyethylene gas pipes connected to the gas distribution device near the house was performed poorly.

A crack has formed in the connecting part of the pipes and a gas leak has occurred. Gas accumulated in the basement of the house and led to an explosion.

The prosecutor’s office of Tashkent region opened a criminal case under article 258 (violation of safety rules for mining, construction or explosive work) of the Criminal Code on this fact.

The Investigation Department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Tashkent region is conducting a preliminary investigation.
