Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the night of 17-18 June at 01:10 local time, the first flight of Uzbekistan Airways with 245 pilgrims took off from Tashkent to Medina (Saudi Arabia). Three more flights with the same load that day will depart at 02:50, 04:10 and 16:10 from Tashkent. By this hour, those going on the Hajj have checked in and are awaiting boarding.
From 18 to 30 June, planes from seven cities of Uzbekistan will fly to Medina. This year, the largest number of pilgrims will go on Hajj from Namangan - 16 flights will carry 3916 passengers. A little less than those who make the Hajj from the capital - 3587 passengers will arrive in Saudi Arabia on 15 flights. 5 planes with 1209 passengers on board will take off from Karshi, three flights and 735 passengers from Samarkand, three flights and 717 passengers from Bukhara, 490 passengers from Urgench, two planes, one flight and 246 pilgrims from Nukus.
The pilgrims will arrive at the airport in an organized manner on special buses, they will also be registered in an organized manner and proceed to the waiting area. At the same time, traffic on the flyover will be temporarily limited at the airport of the capital for the duration of these flights, and access to the terminal will be only for passengers. The Muslim Board of Uzbekistan also recommended that the relatives of the pilgrims not come to the airport in order to avoid a collapse in the terminal and on the forecourt, but to see off their relatives in mosques.
Additional conditions and conveniences have been created at the airports of the republic for those going on hajj. To serve the passengers of these flights at the Tashkent airport, two storage tanks in zone B were prepared and launched after reconstruction, where a sufficient number of seats are installed, and drinks and snacks will be offered to the pilgrims while waiting for boarding.
