Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 April 2021, the first meeting of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia inter-parliamentary friendship group was held.

The meeting, held in the form of a videoconference, was attended by members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

During the meeting, further development of economic, cultural, inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries was noted.

The participants also provided information on the activities of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, plans for the future.

The chairman of the friendship group of Saudi Arabia, General Ali bin Muhammad Yahyo Al-Asiri, said that the large-scale, consistent socio-political and socio-economic reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyev were recognized by the world community. He made proposals on the further development of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The parties exchanged views on a number of issues and agreed on the further development of inter-parliamentary ties.
