Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 March 2021, the first meeting of the Republican Public Women’s Council was held. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Republican Public Women’s Council Tanzila Narbaeva.
The meeting was attended by senators, members of the Council, senior officials of ministries and departments, representatives of NGOs, as well as members of the media.
It was noted that the President of the country Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his Address to the Oliy Majlis stressed that this year a Republican Public Women’s Council will be created, which will be headed by the Chairman of the Senate.
In addition, on 5 March 2021, a resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to further improve the system of support and ensuring the active participation of women in society" was adopted, in accordance with which the main tasks of the Republican Public Women’s Council were determined.
Organizational issues were considered at the meeting. In particular, the Regulation on the Republican Public Women’s Council was approved.
In addition, a number of tasks facing the Council were discussed, including issues of work to identify and eliminate problems in the field, provide employment for women, involve them in handicrafts and entrepreneurship.
The draft work plan of the Republican Public Women’s Council for 2021 was also considered. In particular, the need was noted for the formation of lists of women living in non-residential premises, adult women who have lost their father and are in the care of a single mother, women in need of treatment.
The expediency of introducing as an experiment during the year in each region of the activity of clusters specializing in types of handicrafts, which are mainly engaged in by women, was emphasized.
In order to provide systematic assistance to unemployed citizens and organize work in the context of makhallas, the task of attracting a "public assistant" to a labor inspector in each makhalla was determined.
In addition, a mechanism will be introduced to provide new registered women entrepreneurs with free premises for rent on a preferential basis for a period of up to 1 year and cover rent up to 2.5 million soums within three months at the expense of the Employment Promotion Fund.
The event also focused on the issues of organizing systematic work on vocational training of women serving sentences in penitentiary institutions, increasing their psychological and legal consciousness and culture, ensuring the employment of women who were released from penal institutions, taking measures to promote their social adaptation.
In addition, it is planned to attract non-governmental non-profit organizations that promote vocational training for women, ensure their employment, as well as announce grants for this purpose.
The meeting discussed issues of early marriage and premature birth, domestic violence, divorce, identifying the causes that contribute to them. It is envisaged that the Research Institute for the Support of Mahalla and Family will regularly conduct relevant research.
Suggestions and recommendations were also made on the work that needs to be done in this direction.
