Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 October, as part of the International Week of Innovative Ideas "InnoWeek.Uz-2022", the First International Forum on scientific and innovative activities of universities was held.

The event was opened by the Deputy Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shahlo Turdikulova.

- There is a positive trend in the commercialization of the results of education, science, innovation and scientific research, and over the past three years, the volume of research activities has increased from 49.7 billion soums to 193.3 billion soums. At present, the funds received from research conducted on the basis of state grants of the teaching staff working in universities of 60 higher educational institutions amount to 295,949.6 million soums, Turdikulova said.

A congratulatory speech was made by the Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Science and Innovation Rakhimjon Khakimov.

The forum was attended by rectors of all higher educational institutions of the republic and vice-rectors for scientific work and innovations. 10 foreign guests were also invited to the event, among whom lectures were given by Yusel Ugurlu, rector of the Istanbul Commercial University (Turkey), Tony Liddisoat, professor at the University of Warwick (Great Britain), Ricardo Vesipa, professor at the Turin Polytechnic University (Italy), Gafurov Abror Asrorjonovich, professor at Humboldt University (Germany).

The main purpose of the First International Forum on Scientific and Innovation Activities of Universities is to familiarize with the latest achievements of scientific and innovative activities of higher educational institutions in the era of globalization, exchange of experience and search for solutions to existing problems; joint solution of problems faced by universities that have achieved financial independence in self-government through science and innovation, as well as commercialization; studying the experience of foreign experts in the field of science, innovation and commercialization.

As a result of the forum, contracts and memorandums were signed with foreign universities.
