The First International Festival NAUKA 0+ starts in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, an opening ceremony of the First International Festival NAUKA 0+ in the Republic of Uzbekistan took place.

This event, timed to coincide with the International Year of Fundamental Sciences for Sustainable Development and the start of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, takes place on 29-30 October at the Tashkent Polytechnic Museum, a branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, a branch of the Russian Chemical Technical University named after D.I. Mendeleev, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and other scientific and educational organizations of the republic.

The purpose of the event is to tell the public in an understandable and accessible language about what scientists do, how scientific research improves the quality of life and what prospects it opens up for a modern person. The organizers call the target audience of the festival high school students and families with children of middle and senior school age, students, teachers of basic and additional education, young professionals, scientists and developers.

The name speaks for itself: you can comprehend new things, make discoveries and implement inventions at any age. Among the participants are scientists with a name, and even children - those who, perhaps in the near future, will pick up the baton and change our world. Within the framework of the Festival, guests will enjoy popular science lectures by leading scientists, interactive exhibitions, discussions of the most pressing issues of human development, screening of scientific films and performances, robot competitions, quizzes, quests, science shows and much more. Everyone will be able to join the everyday life of researchers in virtual laboratories and exciting master classes.

Representatives of higher, secondary and preschool education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, scientists of the Uzbek, Russian and Belarusian Academies of Sciences, rectors of Uzbek and Russian leading universities, as well as representatives of the Alisher Usmanov Charitable Foundation "Art, Science and Sport" took part in the opening of the Festival.

Rector of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, Academician Viktor Sadovnichy:

“The First International Science Festival in the Republic of Uzbekistan is a unique project to popularize the work of scientists, the significance of its results for society. It attracts young people to the field of research and technology, promotes a dialogue between the scientific and educational community, government and business. It is gratifying that leading Russian universities have become anchor partners of universities and scientific centers of Uzbekistan in organizing the science festival. The venues for the festival will be their branches, which have been successfully operating in the Republic for many years. They are based both on the experience of holding a science festival in Russia and on international formats for promoting public interest in the scientific frontier. The International Science Festival in the Republic of Uzbekistan is focused on attracting representatives of a wide variety of audiences - from schoolchildren and their parents to students and reputable scientists, offers its participants a variety of interactive formats for immersion in the world of knowledge.

Director of the Tashkent Polytechnic Museum Avazbek Tulakov:

“Of course, this is a special event for us, since the goals and objectives of the upcoming forum are fully in tune with the main mission of our museum, aimed primarily at education, namely the popularization of science and technology among schoolchildren, students and young professionals. Support for talented scientists is a state priority. It is important that in addition to the educational mission, the festival contributes to the international cooperation of scientists, that is, the internationalization of science. As you know, openness and tolerance have always been inherent in the spirit of our country. We are glad to see that the participants of this influential international forum are mainly young people. And this is a guarantee that new discoveries are ahead of us.”

Nikolai Trotsky Communications Director of the Alisher Usmanov Charitable Foundation "Art, Science and Sports":

“I want to greet the participants of the Festival on behalf of the Art, Science and Sport Foundation and its founder Alisher Usmanov. We have been partners of the Science Festival for more than a year. And we are glad that it is developing not only in all regions of our country, but also goes beyond its borders. And continuing the theme of children, family, family values - history and traditions are highly valued here. And, it seems to me, here, today, together with you we are making history, laying the foundation for those values that are based on scientific knowledge that will develop throughout Uzbekistan.”

The start of the unique popular science event was also given “in a scientific way”: the guests of honor did not cut the traditional red ribbon, but broke it frozen in liquid nitrogen.

The lecture program includes presentations by the best scientists from different fields of science:

Lecture "Creating the Future: Chemistry and New Materials".

How to build bridges between wildlife and the man-made world, using the knowledge of chemistry? How does chemistry allow us to create the future by developing new smart materials, medicines, new types of energy and other substances without which our planet will not be able to live tomorrow? During the lecture, we will try to find answers to these questions.
