The First Ambassador of Uzbekistan Presented Credentials to the President of Serbia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first-ever Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Serbia, Oybek Shakhavdinov, based in Budapest, officially presented his credentials to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. This was reported by the news agency "Dunyo."
Following the credential ceremony, a discussion took place during which both parties reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Serbian relations. The President of Serbia positively assessed Tashkent’s initiatives to expand its diplomatic presence in the Southeast European region and confirmed Belgrade’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
During the dialogue, significant potential was emphasized for expanding cooperation in areas such as politics, trade, investment, culture, and humanitarian ties. Both sides expressed interest in intensifying interstate contacts, reinforcing the legal framework for cooperation, and developing direct business connections.
Special attention was given to promoting joint projects in industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education, labor migration, and tourism. Considering the complementary nature of the two countries' economies, opportunities for implementing initiatives involving the private sector were also discussed.
It is worth recalling that Oybek Shakhavdinov was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary in March 2024, becoming the first head of Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in that country. Subsequently, he received accreditation in Croatia (since November 2024), Montenegro (since November 2024), and Slovenia (since December 2024).
