The EU Proposed to Uzbekistan to Hold an Investment Forum on the Development of the Trans-Caspian Corridor

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting took place at the Agency for Strategic Reforms between its director, Bahodir Rakhmatov, and a delegation from the European Union led by Piteres Ustubs, Director for the Asia-Pacific and Middle East at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships.

During the discussion, Piteres Ustubs expressed appreciation for Uzbekistan’s active participation in the framework of the “Country Platform for Uzbekistan,” emphasizing the importance of its further reform to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between Uzbekistan and international partners.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of land reform in the country. The EU representative noted its key significance for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector and expressed the European Union’s readiness to provide comprehensive support in transforming agriculture and ensuring food security.

In the context of implementing the EU flagship initiative “Global Gateways,” the delegation highlighted the importance of infrastructure development of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor. They stressed the need for more active private sector involvement in this process, especially in modernizing logistics capacities—including the construction of specialized infrastructure, warehouse complexes, and storage facilities.

In this regard, the European side proposed organizing an investment forum dedicated to the development of the Trans-Caspian route.

It is planned to invite representatives of interested countries to discuss specific cooperation areas, attract private investment, and coordinate efforts to expand and modernize transport and logistics infrastructure.
