The development of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation in agriculture is the key to ensuring food security

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The development of agriculture has always been at the center of attention of the states of Central Asia. In the current conditions, due to the aggravation of the situation with food security in the world, the importance of this industry, ensuring its effective development, is increasing significantly.

And therefore, during the meeting of the President of Uzbekistan with his colleague the President of Turkmenistan, among the important issues of mutual interest, cooperation in the agricultural sector found its significant place.

Among the countries of the Central Asian region, Uzbekistan has historically occupied a leading position in agricultural production and integral part of agricultural science. However, the last years of the last century and the beginning of the 2000s were not easy for the industry. The low economic indicators of agriculture, the existing economic mechanism did not stimulate the development of agricultural science. Accordingly, this also affected the efficiency of the entire industry.

There is an opinion that agriculture is a conservative sphere, little receptive to scientific achievements. But it is not so. Everything depends on the organization of production, both scientific and economic. And most importantly - from the interest of the participants in this process in the final results.

Realizing the importance of combining science with production, and not in words, but in deeds, and restoring the former potential, the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture has recently been established in Uzbekistan. It brings together research and educational institutions, provides advisory services to participants in agricultural production.

Moreover, this activity is not limited only to national borders, but also goes beyond it. Acquaintance with the activities of the center aroused great interest among the guests.

And there is no doubt that Turkmen specialists will also take an active part in the activities of this organization in the near future. Undoubtedly, it will benefit both parties.

Attention to agricultural science, traditional industries, thanks to which Uzbekistan was known in many foreign countries, predetermined the development of horse breeding.

A lot of work is being done in the country to restore the Karabair population. Cooperation in this area with Turkmen specialists, known throughout the world for their Akhal-Teke breed, will undoubtedly be interesting and useful for both sides. These issues were also reflected during meetings and conversations between the two leaders.

Each meeting of heads of state is aimed at solving specific practical problems in the name of the interests of their peoples. And this first state visit to Uzbekistan of the President of Turkmenistan is a confirmation of this.
