Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 November 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov in the format of video conference held talks with Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Jesper Sørensen.

During the meeting, the current state and priority directions for the development of multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations between Uzbekistan and Denmark were discussed.

The importance of enhancing political dialogue by holding joint events, as well as strengthening interaction within the framework of international organizations and multilateral structures, was noted.

The Danish side was informed about the practical significance of the implementation of the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, put forward at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Special attention is paid to the issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The importance of Uzbekistan's plans to join the World Trade Organization, obtain the status of a beneficiary under the General System of Preferences Plus (GSP +) and agree on a draft Agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation with the European Union, which will create favorable conditions for increasing the volume of mutual trade and the implementation of investment projects, was indicated.

The prospects for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere are considered. Mutual interest was expressed to consider the prospects for deepening ties in the field of science, culture, education and training.
