The delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the next meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 May 2022, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Norov took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Dushanbe.

The event, chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan, was attended by delegations from the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.

The meeting participants discussed topical issues on the international agenda and interaction within the Commonwealth, as well as considered draft multilateral documents submitted for consideration by the Councils of Heads of State and Government of the CIS.

The results of the implementation in 2021 of the Plan of Inter-Ministerial Consultations and the Program of Action to intensify partnership between the foreign ministries of the CIS member states were approved.

Decisions were made to give the status of the base organization of the CIS to the Belarusian Chamber of Notaries - in the field of notarial activities, the International University of Tourism "Silk Road" in Samarkand - in the field of tourism.

During the meeting, the Uzbek delegation noted that the rapidity of the events taking place in the world and changes in international relations dictate the need for constant adaptation of the Commonwealth to modern realities.

It was proposed to continue joint efforts on the practical implementation of the Concept for the Further Development of the CIS and the Strategy for the Economic Development of the CIS, adopted during the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the Commonwealth in 2020.

Attention was also focused on the implementation of initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Commonwealth summits aimed at strengthening the potential for interaction within the CIS, liberalizing trade and economic processes, expanding ties in the field of education, science, technology, healthcare, culture, improving living standards and well-being of citizens, as well as counteracting traditional and new challenges and threats.

In order to broadly discuss specific steps in these areas, CIS partners are invited to the forums held this year in Uzbekistan on industrial cooperation and interregional cooperation, creative and scientific intelligentsia, as well as a high-level international conference on Afghanistan.

Based on the results of the meeting, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS on 13 October 2022 in Nur-Sultan (Republic of Kazakhstan).
