Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the period from 2 to 6 September 2020, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and as part of the heads of ministries, departments and local authorities in a field format conducted work to study the current state socio-economic development and the course of implementation of investment and infrastructure projects in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
During the visit, targeted meetings were held with entrepreneurs and initiators of investment projects to identify existing problems and develop effective algorithms for their solution. An analysis of the current state of infrastructure and social facilities was also carried out, as a result of which the responsible managers were instructed to develop for each facility a comprehensive strategy for further operation, providing for self-sufficiency and wide coverage of the population with social services.
Further steps were discussed to enhance investment and industrial activity in the region - responsible leaders were instructed to develop systemic measures aimed at creating optimal conditions for the formation of value chains based on the existing raw material potential and industrial capacities. In this vein, the importance of identifying and using "points of economic growth" in the development of project proposals was emphasized, which would allow achieving a significant economic effect from attracted investments.
Special attention was paid to the development of infrastructure, which is one of the key factors of investment attractiveness and socio-economic development. The heads of relevant ministries and departments were instructed to coordinate work to accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects and develop new project proposals.
At the same time, they noted the need to take prompt measures to find employment and provide a stable source of income for the local population, including through the establishment of industrial cooperation based on home-based work.
Following the results of the visit, the heads of the relevant ministries, departments, commercial banks and local authorities were given targeted instructions aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial activity, developing inter-sectoral cooperation, increasing export potential and creating additional jobs.
