The Consumer Rights Protection Agency reveals more than 1,000 facts of violation of the sale of food products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, markets, large shopping centers, supermarkets and shops in our country offer a wide range of food products. But do the storage conditions and the process of selling food to customers always comply with safety standards? As the results of the study of the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights showed - not always.

Employees of the Agency’s territorial departments studied about nine thousand retail outlets: shops, kiosks, stalls, pavilions throughout the country. Violations of the rules of retail trade were detected in 1033 cases, which is 12%.

Of these, in 764 cases, facts of food storage in the sun were revealed.

Although it is not allowed to store and display food products on a showcase under direct sunlight and precipitation. 

In 50 cases, the sale of meat and meat products, milk and dairy products was found in unequipped stalls. According to the rules, the sale of meat and dairy, fish, confectionery products (biscuit cakes, pastries, etc.), semi-finished products, culinary products and other perishable products is allowed only if there are refrigerated counters and display cases. 

In 45 cases, the placement of egg products in the sun was revealed. With violation of the commodity neighborhood, 58 facts of the sale of detergents, bread, flour and other flour products were revealed. Storage outside refrigerators - identified in 3 cases, and bulk products were put up for sale in an open form - in 10 cases. According to the rules, open containers with fresh berries are covered with a light thin cloth (for example, gauze, etc.). In 103 cases, food products were placed randomly and unevenly.

In hot weather, food safety plays an important role. After all, spoiled food can cause a number of diseases, especially in children and the elderly.

According to the rules, the seller must have the necessary premises, equipment and inventory to ensure, in accordance with the requirements of technical regulations or standards, the preservation of the quality and safety of goods during their acceptance, storage, pre-sale preparation and sale, create appropriate trading conditions, and also provide buyers with the opportunity to choose goods .

Based on the identified violations, the Consumer Rights Protection Agency issued instructions to business entities in order to eliminate shortcomings and prevent serious violations of storage conditions and shelf life of food products in the future.
