Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ministry of Energy, National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan continues to implement, with the participation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a project to build an electric grid (220 kV) from the Takhiatosh thermal power plant through the Khorazm substation to settlement of Sarima.

In the construction and installation works, implemented on the basis of the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, more than 300 professional engineers take part. At the construction site, the installation of 498 supports was completed, as well as the construction of aerial power networks (220 kV) with a length of 145 km, over which 6 contractors and 95 units of special equipment worked.

It should be noted that ADB borrowed funds are planned to be spent on the purchase of modern equipment and the necessary facilities for the substation and power line. Since the start of construction work, ADB has allocated US$9.9 million in borrowed funds. The Ministry of Energy, “NES of Uzbekistan” made investments in the amount of US$2.94 million.

Currently, the active phase of the II stage of the project is continuing, within which 75 reinforced concrete supports have already been installed and 43 supports are assembled and ready for installation.

The contribution of the contracting organizations to the above results was: Elektrtarmokkurilish installed 43 towers and assembled 23, Elektrkishlokkurilish (35 and 8, respectively), Uzkishlokelektrkurilish (13 and 12), Elektroapparat (12 and 75), Magistraltarmokkurilish branch has installed 11 towers.

In order to expedite the work, National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan involved 100 construction workers and employees from branches of the main electric grids involved in the construction and installation works on this project.

The implementation of this project will serve as a guaranteed supply of electricity to residents living in the Khorezm region and on the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, social facilities, small and medium-sized businesses and industrial enterprises.
