The Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan meets with the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 October, within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of States Members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) in Samarkand, a meeting was held between the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva and the Chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda.

During the meeting, it was noted that thanks to the firm political will and support of the heads of state, the atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding between the fraternal peoples of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has strengthened over the past 5 years.

In particular, the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Republic of Uzbekistan T. Narbayeva noted that an open, trusting and constructive dialogue between countries at the highest level contributed to the unprecedented intensification of Uzbek-Tajik relations in all key areas and raising bilateral relations to the level of alliance. Open and trusting inter-parliamentary cooperation has been established. The Inter-Parliamentary Group of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for cooperation with the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan was formed.

The parties stressed the need to continue the course of intensifying the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries and establishing an exchange of experience on various aspects of lawmaking.

At the end of the dialogue, the parties outlined further tasks for the practical implementation of agreements at the highest level, as well as for the adopted relevant "road maps" with an emphasis on the economic component, for a number of joint projects that require parliamentary attention.
