The chairman of the Mingbulak district court was detained while accepting a bribe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Mingbulak District Court for Criminal Cases of Namangan Region Sh. S. was detained on 30 January on suspicion of taking a bribe. This was reported by the press secretary of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan Aziz Abidov.

The arrest occurred at a time when the judge received US$2,000 from the father of the accused under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Article 167 (theft by embezzlement or embezzlement on an especially large scale) and other articles of the Criminal Code. The judge allegedly received a bribe to impose a more lenient sentence.

On 31 January, the Plenum of the Supreme Court approved the proposal of the Prosecutor General to bring the judge to criminal liability and apply a preventive measure to him in the form of detention.
