Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analysis showed that in October the Uzbek market made a leap upward - sales of passenger cars showed a significant increase of 31.1% compared to October 2019.
The CERR regularly analyzes changes in sales in the car market.
In October 2021, the number of car purchase and sale transactions in the republic increased significantly. So, in comparison with the month of September of this year. the growth was 32.6%.
At the same time, in comparison with October 2020, the demand in the domestic car market showed an increase of 10%.
It should be noted that after the restrictions were lifted due to the coronavirus pandemic in mid-August last year, demand for car purchases rose 54.3% in August compared to July. The deferred demand continued to be satisfied until the end of the year.
Thus, the domestic car market returned to pre-crisis indicators in the fall of 2020, and in October this year it showed a significant leap upward. Thus, compared to October 2019, car sales increased significantly by 31.1%.
Undoubtedly, unfortunately, the global microchip shortage caused by the coronavirus pandemic continues to hold back production in the auto industry. Under these conditions, the significant growth in the automotive market is mainly due to the increase in sales in the aftermarket. If in October 50.1 thousand vehicles were sold, then in September this figure was 40.3 thousand units (an increase of 24.3%). There is a lot of activity in the primary car market. In October, 20.6 thousand new cars were sold, which is 58.5% more than in September.
By region, the highest sales growth rates were observed in Surkhandarya (60.4%), Navoi (55.9%), Bukhara (53.4%) and Tashkent (50.2%) regions.
In October 2021, 18.5 thousand new cars were registered (growth versus September - 64.4%). 1.4 thousand of them are foreign cars.
Experts note that sales of foreign cars slightly decreased compared to September (2343 units), and increased by 38.2% (1021 units) compared to August.
During this period, most foreign cars were sold in the city of Tashkent (5209 units), Fergana (1610 units), Tashkent (834 units) and Samarkand (505 units) regions.
In general, 152.2 thousand new passenger cars were registered in the republic in January-October, including 9.9 thousand or 6.5% of foreign cars.
The regions with the highest volume of new car sales in October were Tashkent city - 5682 units. (including 902 units or 15.9% of foreign cars), Tashkent - 1925 units. (62 units or 3.2% of foreign cars) and Samarkand - 1416 units. (81 units or 5.7% of foreign cars) of the region.
