Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, special attention is paid to the further development of green energy in the country. To this end, in particular, in the hydropower industry, work is underway to ensure the timely commissioning of new and modernized hydroelectric power plants (HPPs).
Currently, the modernization of the Topalang hydroelectric power station in Surkhandarya region is in full swing, which is planned to be put into operation this year.
To bring the efficiency of this hydroelectric power plant to a qualitatively new level, two hydroelectric units with a capacity of 72.5 MW each will be installed.
After modernization, the total capacity of the Topalang HPP will reach 175 MW. The modernization process is being implemented in partnership with the Russian company Power Machines.
