The "Bukhara Declaration" is designed to promote the ideas of enlightenment and a culture of tolerance

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The international forum "Dialogue of Declarations" continues its work in Uzbekistan. On 19 May, foreign participants of the event, consisting of representatives of various faiths, prominent theologians, religious scholars, jurists from North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, arrived in the ancient city of Bukhara to hold the main event and adopt the Bukhara Declaration.

The participants will discuss the results of the scientific and practical seminars held in the first days of the forum, as well as the most important provisions of previous declarations adopted in Marrakesh, Jakarta, Potomac, Punto del Este, and Mecca. There will be an exchange of experience in the field of ensuring religious tolerance. Foreign participants will be informed about the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the people of Uzbekistan.

Taking into account the current trends taking place in the world and having comprehensively discussed the adopted “Bukhara Declaration”, prominent theologians, religious scholars and jurists plan to reflect in it the basic principles in the development of all other declarations.

At the same time, participation in the preparation of the "Bukhara Declaration" of a wide range of representatives from various countries of the world is evidence of the recognition by the international community of the effectiveness of our country’s policy in the field of ensuring freedom of religion and religious tolerance.

This is confirmed by the support of this initiative and the participation at the international forum of such distinguished guests as the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (KSA) Abdul Aziz Sarhan, Chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom Nadine Maenza, Emir of the Emirate of Argungu (Nigeria) Alhaji Samail Muhammad Mer, Chairman Commission on Culture of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences Amin Abdullah and other prominent religious experts and theologians.

The Bukhara Declaration will become an important document for the entire world community, designed to promote the ideas of enlightenment and a culture of tolerance, respect for the national traditions of adherents of various religions and ensuring their rights, strengthening a creative dialogue on a global scale.

The event is held by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Institute for Global Engagement (USA) with the support of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Public Administration under the President Republic of Uzbekistan and khokimiyats of Samarkand and Bukhara regions.

On 20 May, foreign participants of the forum will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bukhara.
