Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 December 2020, an international online round table was held on the topic “Best practices in the development and implementation of the National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325“ Women, Peace and Security”.
The event was attended by representatives of the OSCE, members of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, leading foreign experts, heads of NGOs, and the media.
The online round table was opened by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva with a welcoming speech. It was noted that Uzbekistan has developed a Strategy for Achieving Gender Equality, which provides for the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2020 alone, Uzbekistan adopted 15 legal acts aimed at increasing the role of women in government and society, ensuring their employment, developing women's entrepreneurship and supporting women in need.
At the event, the participants appreciated the large-scale work carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to increase the social and political activity of women, their full support, and achieve gender equality.
During the "round table" the foreign experience of implementation and monitoring of the National Action Plans under UN Security Council Resolution 1325, as well as the national experience of developing the main provisions of the draft National Action Plan for this resolution were considered.
