Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During an operational event held on the territory of Mirzo Ulugbek district of the capital, the activities of an organized group engaged in the illegal circulation of counterfeit medicines and dietary supplements were identified and suppressed.
In the course of a duly inspection of one of the houses in the area, it turned out that this was not a residential building at all, but some kind of secret trading platform. It had its own hotline, where about 150 telecom operators were involved in the delivery of medicines and dietary supplements of non-guaranteed quality to consumers. During the operation, about 97,000 units of medicines and medical products and about 73,000 units of packages of biologically active additives were found in the premises, intended for further sale outside of pharmacies.
The discovered drugs were intended for weight loss, weight gain, getting rid of parasites, improving heart activity and other purposes.
In addition, 202 monitors, 196 processors, 10 laptop computers, 1 color printer used in the activities of the Call Center, as well as invoices and financial notebooks on which illegal trade was recorded, were seized as material evidence.
Thus, as a result of a large-scale operational measure, drugs, dietary supplements and other inventory items for a total of 9.179 trillion soums were withdrawn from illegal circulation for temporary storage.
Currently, according to the revealed fact, the customs authorities are conducting preliminary investigations.
