Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 November, health promotion - a marathon under the motto "5000 steps to a healthy life" and tree planting events within the framework of the Yashil Makon (Green Space) national project was held in the city of Tashkent.

On the initiative of the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs, this action was also held in the city center for residents of Mirabad and Chilanzar districts. The health-improving event was supported by the khokimiyat of Tashkent, the city prosecutor’s office, the State Tax Administration, the National Guard of the Republic, the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.

The sporting event started at the intersection of Nukus and Oybek streets. 

The marathon brought together over 20,000 sports-loving people, regardless of age and gender. Employees of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate took all the necessary measures to organize security and order during the sporting event.

The purpose of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population of the capital, as well as to popularize sports.

At the end of the marathon, at the finish line at the Humo Arena ice palace, a concert was organized for the participants with the participation of the ensemble of the Palace of Culture of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Russian pop stars. Then the ceremony of awarding the winners took place. They were awarded with diplomas and valuable gifts. In addition, special gifts were given to the marathon participants in the following nominations: "The most active young participant", "The most active elderly participant", "The most athletic family".

Also, on this Sunday, employees of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Tashkent, within the framework of the national project "Yashil Makon" ("Green Space"), planted seedlings of fruit and ornamental trees.
