The 14th Summit of Women Heads of Parliaments of the Member States of the Inter-Parliamentary Union continues its work in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This morning, the 14th summit of women heads of parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) member states continued its work at the Tashkent City Congress Hall in the capital, Dunyo news agency reported.

The second day of the summit began with a special segment on Gender-Responsive Parliaments Aimed at Resilience and Prosperity.

The forum is attended by heads of international organizations such as the UN, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, as well as more than 120 representatives of parliaments from 17 states.

On the second day of the summit, Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, delivered an opening speech. Before his speech, the Secretary General of the IPU asked those present to honor the memory of the British Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away the day before.

The IPU unites the parliaments of about 200 countries and is the largest platform for dialogue.

At the summit of women heads of parliaments of the member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held last year in Vienna, it was decided to hold another such format in Uzbekistan.
