Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Termez is an important strategic transport hub for sending humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. Frank Remus, senior adviser to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said this at a press conference in Tashkent. This was reported by Sputnik.
“We have created hubs for sending humanitarian aid around Afghanistan. They are in Iran, Pakistan. We missed a hub from the north. From this point of view, Termez is located very conveniently,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed that this decision is long-term, therefore, the term "strategic" is deliberately used, not "temporary".
