Temiryoʻlkargo Delegation Visits Hyundai Rotem: Supply and Logistics Discussed in Detail
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from JSC Temiryoʻlkargo, accompanied by O. Kulakhmedov, a representative of JSC Temiryoʻlekspress, conducted a working visit to Hyundai Rotem, one of South Korea’s leading engineering companies.
During the visit, the Uzbek representatives closely familiarized themselves with the company’s production process. The delegation had the opportunity to observe all key stages of train assembly and to study the technologies and equipment used. The technical tour was led by Hyundai Rotem’s senior engineers and specialists, who provided comprehensive explanations and support.
Particular attention was paid to the logistics involved in transporting railway rolling stock from the Hyundai Rotem plant to the Chinese port of Tianjin. Logistics and international freight transport specialists participated in the discussions to address all relevant delivery issues.
The outcomes of the meetings laid a strong foundation for deepening bilateral cooperation and are expected to drive the successful implementation of future transport and logistics projects between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
Uzbekistan is set to acquire several electric trains from Hyundai Rotem.
A supply and maintenance agreement for the electric trains was signed between JSC Uzbekistan Railways, JSC Temiryoʻlekspress, and Hyundai Rotem during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan in June 2024.
Under the terms of the $195.7 million contract, Hyundai Rotem will supply Uzbekistan with six high-speed electric trains, comprising a total of 42 cars.
These trains will bear the name “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” and will operate along the Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva route.
The South Korean company will also provide technical maintenance and repair services for the trains.
