Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education held an award ceremony for students and their teachers who won international subject Olympiads.

This year, the members of the national team of Uzbekistan, who took part in the distance international Olympiads in chemistry and biology, deservedly defended the honor of our country.

In particular, 235 gifted students from 60 countries of the world took part in the prestigious 52nd International Chemistry Olympiad, which was held remotely on 25 July. At this Olympiad, the national team of Uzbekistan, consisting of 4 students, won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

At the 31st International Biology Olympiad, which was held remotely on 24 August, with the participation of 262 gifted students from 52 countries of the world, 4 students defended the honor of our country and won 1 gold and 2 silver medals.

In accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 3 May 2019 “On measures to organize a continuous system for identifying gifted youth and training highly qualified personnel”, the winners of international Olympiads and their teachers are awarded a one-time monetary prize.

1st place (gold medal) - 500 times of basic evaluated rate (BVR) (111 million 500 thousand soums), for a teacher - 450 times of BVR (100 million 350 min. Soums);

2nd place (silver medal) – 300 of BVR (66 million 900 thousand soums), for the teacher - 250 times of BVR (55 million 750 thousand soums);

3rd place (bronze medal) – 200 of BVR (44 million 600 thousand soums), teacher - 150 times of BVR (33 million 450 thousand soums);

Also, teachers and directors of educational institutions who have trained the winners of international Olympiads are paid an additional premium, respectively, for gold, silver and bronze medals in the amount of 200, 175 and 150 percent at the expense of the director’s fund for the next academic year.

It should be noted that in September this year, it is planned that members of the national team of Uzbekistan participate in the International Olympiad in Mathematics and the International Olympiad in Informatics.

In 2019, our students won 2 silver and 6 bronze medals at the prestigious International Subject Olympiads, they and their teachers were awarded 714 million soums. Students awarded with medals of prestigious international Olympiads are admitted to higher educational institutions without exams.
