TASI to Implement Dual Education Model and Promote Export of Scientific Potential
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In an effort to improve the quality of education and strengthen the link between science and practice at the Tashkent Architecture and Construction University (TASI), the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed Decree No. PP-209 on 1 July 2025.
The document outlines key strategic directions and performance indicators for the university, including the integration of academic education with industrial practice through a dual education model, and the international promotion of its scientific potential with the goal of attracting at least 1,000 international students by 2028.
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, TASI will officially implement a dual education system based on a credit-modular structure. For first-year students, 60% of the curriculum will consist of classroom-based theoretical training, while 40% will be dedicated to hands-on practical training at construction sector enterprises. From the second year onward, the emphasis will shift, with 60% of instruction taking place in the workplace and 40% in classrooms.
An essential component of this educational reform is the involvement of international experts. The decree stipulates that at least 25% of laboratory and practical sessions will be conducted by invited foreign professors and certified industry specialists.
Beginning 1 September 2025, a pilot project based on the "school – college (lyceum) – university" model will be launched. As part of this initiative, schools No. 250 and No. 273 in Tashkent’s Yunusabad district will be affiliated with the university. TASI will offer extracurricular laboratory-based lessons for students in grades 7–9, providing safe supervision and early career orientation.
Simultaneously, an innovation ecosystem based on the principle of "University – Laboratory – Enterprise – Ministry" will be launched. Within this ecosystem, the university will carry out applied research commissioned by construction firms, organize a “Top 20 Ideas” competition among students, graduate students, and young researchers, and conduct experimental work in its laboratories. Winners of the competition will receive a monetary award equivalent to 35 base calculation units, funded by the Industry Support Fund under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Additionally, from the new academic year, TASI will assume responsibility for coordinating all architectural and construction laboratories of public universities nationwide through a specialized digital platform named "UniLab".
The implementation of these initiatives is expected to elevate TASI’s educational and scientific capabilities to a new level, positioning it as a central institution for training highly qualified professionals in the construction sector.
