Tashkent to host second World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Preschool Education, together with UNESCO, is planning to hold the Second World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education in Tashkent on 14-16 November this year.

The organizers of this event will be the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, UNESCO, as well as other international organizations (prior consent for co-organization received from the World Bank and UNICEF).

The corresponding Resolution was adopted at the 41st session of the General Conference of UNESCO on 5 November, 2021. The event was given a very high level - the second category, which means the participation of member countries at the level of ministers of education. 

Holding the event, which is usually held once every 10 years, in Tashkent will allow demonstrating the successes and achievements of the country, showing its model for the development of preschool education, sharing and exchanging advanced ideas and experience.

The objectives of the Conference are to reaffirm the right of all young children to quality care and education, as well as to recognize it as an essential foundation for lifelong learning and development, to assess the progress of member countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals related to young children, to exchange best practices and innovations, setting priorities and strategies for increasing investment in early childhood care and education.

Based on the results of the Conference, a final document will be adopted - the Tashkent Declaration. The Tashkent Declaration will set the international agenda for early childhood education until 2030. The final document will be prepared during a consultative process on the margins of the conference, translated into the 6 official languages of the UN and distributed to all Member States of UNESCO.

The conference program is designed for 3 days, during which plenary sessions and panel discussions, ministerial and regional meetings, as well as familiarization with the practical experience of Uzbekistan will be held.

As a cultural program for those who wish, a visit to Khiva, Samarkand or Bukhara (optional) is planned on the 4th day of stay. Within the framework of the Conference, it is also planned to hold an international exhibition of goods, services, innovative products in the field of preschool education.

The total number of participants will be 1,500 people from 200 countries.  The event is planned to be attended by heads of international organizations and financial institutions, ministers in the field of education from various countries of the world of UNESCO member countries, as well as leading international figures in the field of science and education, including Nobel laureates, as guests of honor and speakers.

Today, the press conference dedicated to the Global Forum was attended by the Director of the Division for Lifelong Learning Policies and Systems, UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, Borchen Chakroun and the Child Development Program Specialist early age, the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, Rohai Diawar.
