Tashkent region to receive US$100 million to support entrepreneurship and development of engineering and communication networks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to further support entrepreneurship and the development of engineering and communication networks in the Tashkent region.”

The document approved the allocation at the expense of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan (FRDU) in the equivalent of US$100 million to support entrepreneurial activities within the framework of the Every Family is an Entrepreneur Program (US$50 million) and the development of engineering and communication networks in the Tashkent region (US$50 million).

In particular, US$19 million will be allocated for the restoration and development of the heat supply system (STS), US$17 million for the improvement of drinking water supply and sewerage networks (SPVK), US$10 million for the construction and repair of highways (SRAD), and provision of additional special vehicles for the management of the improvement of districts (cities) of the Tashkent region - US$4 million.

The funds allocated for the Every Family is an Entrepreneur program are provided to authorized commercial banks for a period of 7 years, including a three-year grace period, in equal installments at a rate 4 percentage points below the Central Bank's base rate with a refund condition.

Interest-free funds in the equivalent of US$50 million are allocated to the Fund for Improvement and Welfare of Tashkent region with a condition of return. The funds are allocated for 10 years.
