Tashkent region to implement projects worth US$2.2bn

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent region of Uzbekistan will realize 301 investment projects in 2013-2015.

They will be implemented due to investments for US$2.2 billion, including foreign direct investments worth US$619 million, deputy head of the main department on economy of Tashkent region Jamshid Mashrapov said.

He said that in the result the volume of industrial output in the region will grow by 24.3% year-on-year or to 8.825 trillion soums. Some 11,000 new jobs will be created.

Pravda vostoka newspaper said that the huge works will be conducted in oil, chemical, mining and metallurgy and machinery industries in next three years.

Mashrapov said that Almalyk Mining and Metallurgy Combine will implement 15 projects. It is constructing a sulfuric acid shop and smelting furnace at copper smelting plant, underground mine at Qayragach field, he said.

Ammofos-Maxam will organize production of NPK-fertilizers. The founders of the plant are planning to invest US$8.6 million to the project, he said.

Jamshid Mashrapov said that Uzbek Metallurgy Combine is conducting six projects. One of the project is directed at producing thermal insulator, silicate cotton, and other products from basalt.

Uzbekenergo, Uzbekugol, Bekabadcement, Chirchiq Transformers Plant and other large enterprises are also implementing projects in Tashkent region.

According to the territorial programme, it is planned to realize 146 projects on production of non-food products. Over US$205 million will be directed to implementation of these projects. About 37% of them will be loans of the banks. These projects will help to provide jobs for 7,254 people.

Main part of the investment projects will be implemented in rural areas. New enterprises will be created Quyichirchiq, Urtachirchiq, Yuqorichirchiq, Boka, Bekabad, Pskent, Aqqurgan and other districts. Part of the projects are already implemented, he added.
