Tashkent Region Launches Joint Agricultural Projects with Chinese Investors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Zoir Mirzaev, head of the Tashkent region, held a meeting with Chinese entrepreneurs successful in agriculture and biotechnology.

The discussions focused on the development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, and the prospects for implementing specific projects.

Chinese investors proposed the construction of eco-friendly, energy-efficient greenhouses heated with solar energy and equipped with five-layer insulation materials. These greenhouses can maintain temperatures up to +5°C even during the coldest winter days, ensuring year-round cultivation of vegetables and fruits, boosting exports, and stabilizing domestic prices.

Additionally, a new outdoor silkworm breeding technology was presented, allowing silkworms to be raised directly on trees. This reduces labor costs and enables production in private yards and small gardens, creating an additional source of income for local residents.

The foreign investors also demonstrated innovative biopreparations adapted to the climate of the Tashkent region. These products accelerate root system growth, improve plant resistance to diseases and stress factors, and can increase yields by up to 20%.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to commence cooperation in all three areas, develop technical and economic feasibility studies for the projects, and launch pilot initiatives in relevant districts of the Tashkent region.

The projects aim to modernize the region’s agriculture, introduce innovative technologies, and expand export potential.
