Tashkent Police Warn of AI-Generated Video Scam

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of Tashkent has warned residents about a new type of fraud involving artificial intelligence-generated videos.

According to the agency, fake video materials created using AI technologies are being circulated on social media.

In the latest case, scammers published a video imitating a news report from the Uzbekistan-24 television channel and allegedly produced by the Tashkent police. Although the footage appears convincing, authorities stress that it is not an official video.

The police urged citizens not to trust information from unfamiliar websites, avoid clicking suspicious links, and refrain from sharing personal data. Verified information is published only on the agency’s official pages.

The authorities also noted that a website claiming to belong to an international cyber police organization has no connection to law enforcement agencies. Citizens are strongly advised not to enter personal data or SMS verification codes on third-party platforms.

In recent months, fraudsters have increasingly used artificial intelligence technologies for illegal purposes.

Law enforcement authorities call on residents to remain vigilant, verify information sources, and avoid falling victim to scammers.
