Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of Tashkent held a meeting on road safety issues under the chairmanship of Rustam Djuraev, Major General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Public Safety Department, the Traffic Safety Service reported.

The discussion focused on the dissemination of online content on social media, messaging apps, and YouTube promoting dangerous driving, illegal street racing, drifting, and reckless maneuvers on city roads. Authorities emphasized ongoing monitoring of the internet to identify those posting such content, take legal measures against them, and block accounts encouraging serious traffic violations.

According to Tashkent police, during preventive operations from February 26 to March 3, 107 videos depicting road hooliganism were identified. Administrative protocols were issued against 66 drivers, and 62 vehicles were impounded. In total, 5,919 serious traffic violations were recorded over the week, with vehicles removed to impound lots.

The most common offenses included participation in street races, refusal to comply with lawful orders from traffic police, use of illegally tinted windows, unauthorized installation of sirens and flashing lights, and driving without state registration plates. Among the violators, 54 were minors.

Inspections were also conducted at car service centers, during which 68 managers and 79 staff members of tuning service providers were interviewed, and 100 owners and managers of auto workshops received preventive briefings.

Authorities stressed that restrictions on social media accounts promoting street racing and traffic hooliganism will continue. The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that these measures aim to reduce accidents, foster responsible road user behavior, and curb the promotion of dangerous driving practices in the capital.
