Tashkent mayor holds meeting with a delegation from the Chelyabinsk and Astrakhan regions of the Russian Federation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 August, Tashkent city mayor Jakhongir Artikkhodjaev met with a delegation from Chelyabinsk and Astrakhan regions of the Russian Federation, headed by Governor of Chelyabinsk region Alexei Teksler.

The khokim of the capital, welcoming the guests, noted that partnerships between our regions need to be developed and strengthened by consistently cooperating in the areas of housing and communal services, education, urban planning, tourism, art and culture, as well as interacting in holding music, film and theater festivals.

Alexei Teksler thanked for the reception and noted that he fully supports J. Artikkhodjaev in choosing areas for cooperation. The governor said that Chelyabinsk region is a leader in the production of unique large-area facade glass for skyscrapers, which are distinguished by excellent insulating properties, as well as construction cranes, trams, attachments for landscaping and fire safety, and other industrial products.

Speaking about the importance of tourist exchange, Alexei Teksler noted the importance of establishing direct flights between regions, standardizing tour packages and routes, as well as improving logistics. This will serve the further development of tourism in our countries, including medical tourism in ophthalmological and dental areas. Alexei Teksler also proposed to further develop industrial cooperation, sign a cooperation agreement and establish cultural exchange.

After that, Ilya Volynsky, Minister of Industry and Natural Resources of Astrakhan region, said that the region, opening the gates to the Caspian Sea, allows the provision of modern logistics services. I. Volynsky suggested opening a trading house in Astrakhan, which would enable our enterprises to cover the entire Russian market, establish cooperation in growing and supplying agricultural products, in particular, onions and potatoes. Noting the success of the branch of the Astrakhan University in Tashkent, which has more than 1,000 Uzbek students, I. Volynsky proposed to further develop cooperation in the field of vocational education.

Artikkhodjaev supported the initiatives of the guests and expressed interest in them. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue negotiations for the development of mutually beneficial and promising cooperation.
