Tashkent May Welcome Multiple Paid Parking Operators
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent may soon have several operators managing paid parking, according to Abdurahmon Bakhtiev, Deputy Hokim for Transport and Road Infrastructure, during a press conference on 12 March.
Bakhtiev noted that the President has instructed city authorities to identify additional sites for paid parking. These sites are expected to be divided into large lots of several hundred spaces and offered through auctions.
“Whoever wins the auction will operate the parking. We already have 2–3 applicants asking to expedite the bidding process. This concerns not only Streetpark Systems but also other interested organizations,” Bakhtiev said.
Paid parking in Tashkent began in 2024. The city hokim, Shavkat Umurzakov, issued a decree establishing street parking lots, aiming to create 13,200 spaces by August 2025, eventually expanding to 84,000 spaces.
In November 2024, an auction was announced for a three-year parking management contract covering 262,800 sq. m, with minimum required investment of US$5 million for technical equipment. Parking fees are divided into five zones, ranging from 5,000 to 12,000 sums per hour.
Streetpark Systems won the repeat auction in December with a bid of 62.93 billion sums for three years. Earlier, in November, the joint venture Balcomuz offered approximately 120 billion sums, but no contract was finalized.
