Tashkent makes largest contribution to formation of Uzbekistan’s GDP

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2017, the gross regional product (GRP) of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in current prices made up 8.28 trillion soums and grew by 5.7% compared to 2016, the Uzbek State Statics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The growth in GRP is due to the positive growth rates in the main economic sectors of the region, such as agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 3.8% (share in the GRP structure – 15.2%), industry – 7.1% (32.7%), construction – 3.6% (7.5%), services - 5.9% (44.6%). GRP per capita amounted to 4.52 million soums and grew by 4.2%.

GRP of Andijan region in current prices was 14.48 trillion soums and grew by 6.7% compared to 2016. Economic growth is due to positive growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 1.1% (share in the GRP structure – 33.4%), in industry – 23.5% (20.8%), in construction -1.9% (5.6%), in the sphere of services – 5.1% (40.2%). GRP per capita amounted to 4.84 million soums and grew by 4.9% compared to 2016.

In Bukhara region, GRP reached 12.28 trillion soums, or rose by 1.7% to the level of 2016. The increase in GRP is due to the positive growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 1.6% (share in the GRP structure – 31%), in construction – 1.4% (9.7%), in services – 3.8% (39.6%). In industry, there was a decrease in volumes by 1.5%. The share of this industry in the GRP structure is 19.7%. The volume of GRP per capita increased by 0.2% and made up 6.61 million soums.

GRP of Jizzakh region made up 5.76 trillion soums with growth to the level of 2016 by 2.4%. In the main branches of the economy of the region, positive growth rates were also noted. In particular, the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheries was 1.1% (share in the GRP structure – 35.2%), industry – 0.4% (14.3%), construction – 0.1% (8.1%), the service sector – 4.6% (42.4%). The volume of GRP per capita amounted to 4.389 million soums and grew by 0.5% compared to 2016.

GRP of Kashkadarya region increased by 3.1% to the level of 2016 and amounted to 17.36 trillion soums. The growth of GRP is due to positive growth rates in the main sectors of the region’s economy: in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 0.8% (share in the GRP structure – 22.6%), industry – 4.1% (35.2%), construction – 0.4% (7.6%), services – 4% (34.6%). GRP per capita grew by 1.1% and reached 5.56 million soums.

In Navoi region, GRP growth was 1.3% and reached 12.317 trillion soums. In the sectoral structure of GRP, compared to 2016, the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheries was 4.1% (the share in the GRP structure was 18.5%), industry – minus 1.4% (53.9%), construction – 3.1% (4.8%), services – 6.3% (22.8%). GRP per capita decreased by 0.3% and amounted to 12.96 million soums.

The GRP of Namangan region amounted to 10.55 trillion soums, which is 4.2% higher than the data for 2016. The GRP growth rate is due to the positive growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1.1% (share in the GRP structure - 30.9%), in industry – 5% (14.9%), in construction -7.6% (6.8%), in the service sector – 5.4% (47.4%). GRP per capita increased by 2.3% and amounted to 3.94 million soums.

The volume of GRP of Samarkand region in current prices was 18.32 trillion soums and increased by 2.5% compared to 2016. In this region, positive growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries were noted – 1.4% (share in the GRP structure – 32.2%), in industry – 2.2% (18.6%), in services – 4.5% (43.3%). In the construction industry, there was a decrease in volume, which decreased by 4.4% by 2016 (the share of this industry in the GRP structure is 5.9%). GRP per capita increased by 0.6% and amounted to 4.97 million soums.

In Surkhandarya region, GRP increased by 3.7% and made up 10.63 trillion soums. Growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries were 6.6% (GRP share – 40.3%), construction – 4.1% (7.7%), services – 4.7% (43.8%). In industry there was a decline in volumes. The index of physical volume of industrial production was 90,0% compared to 2016 (the share in the GRP structure is 8.2%). GRP per capita amounted to 4.27 million soums, which is 1.6% higher than the data for 2016.

GRP of Syrdarya region in the reporting period decreased by 2.3% and amounted to 5.06 trillion soums. In the sectoral structure of GRP, growth rates were as follows: in agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 2.3% (share in the GRP structure – 36.9%), in the service sector – 5.5% (33.5%). But there was a decrease in volumes compared to 2016 in industry – 15.4% (24.7%) and construction – 4.9% (4.9%). GRP per capita decreased by 3.8% and amounted to 6.26 million soums.

In Tashkent region, GRP reached 23.52 trillion soums and grew by 3.1% compared to 2016. The growth in GRP is due to the positive growth rates in the region’s economy: agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 0.8% (share in the GRP structure – 23.1%), industry – 3% (38.7%), construction – 0.5% (3.7%), services – 3.8% (34.5%). GRP per capita increased by 1.8% and amounted to 8268.1 thousand soums.

GRP of Fergana region increased by 4% and amounted to 16.77 trillion soums. The growth rate of GRP is due to the positive growth rates of the regional economy. In agriculture, forestry and fisheries, the growth rate was 3.3% (share in the GRP structure – 23.4%), in industry – 2% (24.6%), in construction - 5.9% (6.2%), in the sphere of services – 5.1% (45.8%). GRP per capita amounted to 4.67 million soums and grew by 2.4% compared to 2016.

In Khorezm region, GRP made up 8.23 trillion soums, exceeding the level of 2016 by 4.5%. The growth in GRP is due to the growth rates in agriculture, forestry and fisheries at the level of 0.1% (the share in the GRP structure is 30.4%), industry – 13.2% (17.3%), the service sector – 5.2% (45.1%). GRP per capita increased by 2.8% and amounted to 4.59 million soums.

GRP of Tashkent city was 38.64 trillion soums, which is 8% higher than in 2016. The main factors of GRP growth were positive growth rates in industries such as industry – 6.9% (share in the GRP structure – 32.2%), construction – 10.9% (7.4%), service sector – 8.4% (60.4%). GRP per capita increased by 6.4% and amounted to 15.8 million soums.

The largest contribution to formation of the GDP of Uzbekistan was made by Tashkent city with a specific weight of 15.5%. Tashkent and Samarkand regions occupy the following places with indicators of 9.4% and 7.4% respectively. The lowest share of GRP in formation of the republic’s GDP is recorded in Syrdarya (2%), Jizzakh (2.3%), Khorezm (3.3%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.3%).

In 2017, the leading GRP growth rates were registered in Tashkent (8%), Andijan region (6.7%) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (5.7%). Low growth rates of GRP in comparison with the republican level (5.3%) were observed in Navoi (1.3%), Bukhara (1.7%), Jizzakh (2.4%) and Samarkand (2.5%) regions. In Syrdarya region – was a decrease in the GRP (2.3% compared to 2016).

According to the results of 2017, in the GRP sector structure Surkhandarya region (40.3%) have the largest share in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sector, in the industry - Navoi region (53.9%), in the services sector - Tashkent (60.4%).

The smallest share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, as well as services, was recorded in Navoi region (18.5% and 22.8% respectively), industry - in Surkhandarya region (8.2%).
