Tashkent Leads Uzbekistan in Regional Economic Growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices reached 1,849.7 trillion soms in 2025, marking a 7.7% increase over 2024.
The capital city of Tashkent contributed the most to the national economy, with its gross regional product (GRP) reaching 367.2 trillion soms and registering the highest growth rate among the regions at 11.3%.
Tashkent region recorded a GRP of 180.2 trillion soms (+7.2%), while Navoi region reached 168.0 trillion soms (+7.7%). Samarkand’s GRP amounted to 121.5 trillion soms (+8.0%), and Fergana region showed 111.3 trillion soms (+8.1%).
Other regions also demonstrated steady growth: Andijan and Kashkadarya at 107.7 and 98.8 trillion soms respectively (+6.8% each), Bukhara at 86.6 trillion soms (+7.2%), Namangan at 85.4 trillion soms (+8.2%), Surkhandarya at 66.2 trillion soms (+6.6%), Khorezm at 63.0 trillion soms (+7.9%), Karakalpakstan at 54.1 trillion soms (+7.2%), and Jizzakh at 53.0 trillion soms (+8.2%). Surkhandarya region posted one of the highest growth rates after Tashkent, rising 9.8% to 35.8 trillion soms.
Overall, Tashkent, Surkhandarya, Namangan, and Jizzakh regions led the country in economic expansion, reflecting strong regional contributions to Uzbekistan’s sustained growth.
