Tashkent Introduces Smart Bus Stops with Cameras and SOS
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent has begun installing “smart” bus stops equipped with surveillance cameras and emergency SOS buttons, the Traffic Management Center (TMC) reported.
Each stop will feature two video cameras connected to a centralized monitoring system and an SOS button for emergencies. Special waiting areas will be designated for passengers with disabilities.
Electronic display panels will show bus schedules, and vending machines will provide quick access to purchases. Authorities say these upgrades aim to enhance safety, comfort, and technological efficiency in the city’s public transport system.
Previously, the city administration decided to remove retail stalls from bus stops to free up space for passengers and improve urban transport services.
