Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 March 2022, the first round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh took place in Tashkent.

The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Furkat Sidikov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Masud Momen.

It should be noted that political consultations are held for the first time in the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The delegations discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

An exchange of views took place on issues of cooperation within the framework of the UN and other multilateral structures,

The importance of expanding the legal base of interaction was noted. In this regard, an agreement was reached on the establishment of working groups with the participation of representatives of the involved ministries and departments.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of enhancing economic diplomacy by facilitating the establishment and expansion of contacts between business entities, creating favorable conditions for mutual trade and the implementation of joint investment projects.

Other issues of the Uzbek-Bangladesh agenda were also discussed at the talks.
