Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 March 2025, Tashkent hosted the 43rd meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting was attended by delegations from the competent authorities of the SCO member and observer states, as well as the SCO Secretary-General as an honorary guest.

During the session, participants approved the SCO RATS Council’s report to the SCO Heads of State on the organization's activities in 2024, along with a draft Cooperation Program to Counter Extremist Ideology for 2026–2030.

The Council also reviewed the implementation of previously adopted decisions and assessed the progress of the 2022–2024 counterterrorism, separatism, and extremism program. Additionally, members agreed to continue joint efforts to combat the use of the internet for destructive purposes.

A series of decisions were made regarding key events in 2025, including:

A meeting of SCO border service chiefs in the Kyrgyz Republic;

Joint counterterrorism exercises in Belarus;

An international conference on counterterrorism and extremism in Uzbekistan.

The Council also addressed organizational, personnel, and financial matters related to the Executive Committee of SCO RATS. Several officials and personnel from relevant agencies were recognized for their contributions to strengthening cooperation.

Participants commended the work of the Executive Committee and agreed to hold the next SCO RATS Council meeting in the Kyrgyz Republic.
