Tashkent Hosts Talks on International Tourism Development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A joint meeting was held in Tashkent between Gayane Umerova, Head of the Creative Economy and Tourism Department of the Presidential Administration, Abdulahiz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, and Shaikha Nasser Al Nuais, Secretary-General of UN Tourism. The meeting reflects Uzbekistan’s active foreign policy agenda in the field of tourism cooperation.

During the discussions, participants focused on sustainable development of the tourism sector, expansion of cultural and event tourism, and strengthening international partnerships.

The meeting highlighted the results of reforms aimed at developing tourism infrastructure and creating new tourist offerings. Tourism development was recognized as a national policy priority, aligned with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiatives and Uzbekistan’s Strategy 2030, which seeks sustainable economic growth and expanded international collaboration.

Special attention was given to potential joint projects, including educational programs, support for handicraft sectors, and the introduction of digital solutions in the tourism industry.

The discussions underscored the parties’ commitment to further strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the quality of tourism services in Uzbekistan.
