Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- World Intellectual Property Organization and Agency on Intellectual Property of Uzbekistan held a national seminar on system on patent cooperation treaty (PCT) in Tashkent on 1 May 2013.

The participants of the seminar considered issues on the PCT, opportunities on receiving patent to invitation with the most convenient and profitable way through submitting one international patent application simultaneously in all countries, etc.

The Patent Cooperation Treaty or PCT is an international agreement for filing patent applications having effect in up to 117 countries.

Under the PCT, an inventor can file a single international patent application in one language with one patent office in order to simultaneously seek protection for an invention in up to 117 countries throughout the world.

Uzbekistan is a part of global system on legal protection of intellectual property and it joined the WIPO. The country also signed Paris convention on protection of industrial property, protocol to Madrid agreement on international registration of sign, the PCT, Trademark Law Treaty, Patent Law Treaty and others.

At the seminar, the specialists of WIPO and the Uzbek Agency presented information of filling, submission and process of consideration of international patent applications, international search, international preliminary expertise, electronic submission of applications, information resources on the PCT, etc.
