Tashkent hosts roundtable on alternative sources of energy

MPs of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, representatives of ministries and departments, enterprises, producing alternative energy technologies, scholars participated at the event.

According to the specialists, Uzbekistan has wide opportunities to use small hydro power stations, solar, wind resources and other types of the energy.

Uzbekistan adopted laws “On electricity” and “On rational use of energy”. Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a decree “On measures on further developing alternative sources of energy” on 1 March 2013. The producers and users of equipment for alternative sources of energy received tax and customs privileges.

The country pays attention to saving electricity, decreasing expenses and prime cost of goods production, developing and introducing mechanisms of use of renewable and non-traditional sources of the energy.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged opinion on issues of supporting innovative ideas in energy, further improving legislation, directed at stimulating organization of electronic market through developing alternative energy sources.
