Tashkent hosts meeting of heads of railways of six countries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a two-day meeting of the leaders of the railways of six countries - Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Turkey began work. 

Within the framework of the event, issues of the development of the international multimodal route "APR countries - China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkey - Europe" are being discussed.

It should be noted that it is planned to resolve such issues as the organization of uninterrupted transportation of goods along the international multimodal route, the creation of favorable conditions for attracting additional volumes of cargo, as well as the timely supply of fitting platforms and the establishment of tariff rates.

The first meeting of the leaders of the railways of five countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held on 19-20 December 2019. Following the meeting, the parties signed the final protocol. 

The second meeting of the heads of railway administrations (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan) was held on 23 October 2020, and the third meeting was held on 17 December 2021 in the videoconference mode, during which the Turkish side acceded to the Protocol on the Development of the International Multimodal Route, the parties also agreed to prolong the existing tariff preferences.
