Tashkent Father Jailed After Sons’ Dangerous Driving

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —A Tashkent resident, Nozim Azizov, the father of 13-year-old twin boys, has been sentenced to five days of administrative arrest for minor hooliganism after his sons were caught driving cars inside their neighborhood, posing a threat to residents. The information was reported by the Public Security Department of Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry.

Videos released by authorities show the teenagers driving different vehicles while violating traffic rules, including running a red light. The incident occurred on 7 March in the Yashnabad district, when concerned residents attempted to discuss the children’s behavior with their parents. The footage shows Azizov insulting neighbors, including women, while defending his sons, who had been breaking the law.

A Lexus with registration number 01D70200, which the boys were seen driving, was impounded and taken to a penalty parking lot. According to the teenagers, they took the car without their parents’ permission, while their father claimed the incident was an isolated case.

Witnesses said the boys were driving at high speed both inside the mahalla and on nearby streets, using cars belonging to their parents and relatives. After residents called the emergency number 102, Azizov and his sons were taken to a police station for questioning. A court hearing was held on 8 March, after which the father was sentenced to five days of detention.

In a video recorded at the police station, Azizov apologized to his neighbors and to the country’s president, saying he would closely monitor his children’s behavior and completely forbid them from driving cars in the future.
