Tashkent Discusses Creation of Uzbekistan’s National Investment Code

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A international seminar titled “Ensuring Coherence in International Investment Governance: Practical Approaches for Uzbekistan” was held in the capital, organized by the Asian Development Bank together with the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, with expert support from the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).

The event brought together representatives of government bodies responsible for shaping investment policy. The main focus of the discussions was the creation of a National Investment Code, designed to provide a modern, transparent, and coherent regulatory framework.

Participants addressed issues related to international investment treaties, national legislation, and investment contracts, with particular attention to institutional coherence and balancing the interests of investors and the state.

The seminar included a practical segment examining mechanisms for investor support, investment guarantees, dispute resolution, engagement with public-private partnership projects, and aligning investment policy with land, environmental, labor, and social regulations.

As a result of the seminar, guidelines were defined for the further development of the National Investment Code and strengthening interagency cooperation. These measures are expected to enhance Uzbekistan’s investment attractiveness and create a more predictable business environment.
