Tashkent Court Detains Passenger on Dubai–Tashkent Flight for Sexual Harassment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Sergeli District Court of Tashkent reviewed a criminal case against 53-year-old G. T., who was accused of committing indecent acts against an unfamiliar woman.

The incident occurred on 22 September aboard the Dubai–Tashkent flight. The man verbally harassed the female passenger with obscene expressions, humiliating her honor and dignity, and engaged in sexual actions, including approaching her, breathing heavily, and repeatedly touching her legs.

Despite the victim’s demands to stop his inappropriate behavior, G. T. continued, which qualifies as sexual harassment.

The court found G. T. guilty under Part 1, Article 41-1 of the Code of Administrative Liability of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “Sexual Harassment,” and sentenced him to five days of administrative detention.
